Coronavirus: Jon Bon Jovi cancels Florida concert after testing positive

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Rocker Jon Bon Jovi was forced to cancel a concert in South Florida at the last minute after testing positive for COVID-19.

Audience members at the Loews South Beach theater in Miami Beach were filing into the venue when they were told that Bon Jovi would be unable to perform, WSVN reported.

Members of the whole band had been given rapid tests before the show, the Miami Herald reported.

The singer was scheduled to appear at the “Runaway With JBJ” fan event Saturday, Rolling Stone reported. The event was to feature question-and-answer sessions, photo opportunities and an acoustic performance, according to the magazine.

Bon Jovi is “fully vaccinated and feeling fine,” his publicist, Kristen Foster, confirmed to CNN.

A WSVN reporter captured Bon Jovi, 59, leaving the Loews Miami Beach hotel just before 7 p.m. EDT.

In March 2020, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan was among the first artists to reveal they had tested positive for COVID-19, Rolling Stone reported.

The singer was scheduled to appear at the three-day “Runaway With JBJ” fan event Saturday, Rolling Stone reported. The event was to feature question-and-answer sessions, photo opportunities, an acoustic performance and a costume party, according to the magazine.

Tickets started at $1,650, the Herald reported. According to the event’s website, ticketholders were required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before Saturday’s show.

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran announced last Sunday that he had tested positive for coronavirus.

Concert attendee Maria Garcia-Mella Cid posted on Instagram that a new date was scheduled and that a disc jockey put on a show for attendees. “We made the most of it despite the major disappointment,” she wrote. “When life gives you lemons ... ask for tequila and salt!”
