Florida girl, 13, accused of threat to ‘kill anyone we see’ at middle school

LAKE PLACID, Fla. — A 13-year-old Florida girl is accused of posting threats of gun violence at her middle school, authorities said.

According to a news release posted on the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the seventh grader is facing charges of written/sent threat to kill or injure, disturbance of a school function and using a two-way device to facilitate a felony.

According to the sheriff’s office, the threat was made overnight on an Instagram account that has since been deleted, WTSP reported. The person’s username was “LPMS_deathnote,” according to WTVT.

The first message showed a picture of a gun with three threatening statements:

• “If you want to live tomorrow I recommend not coming to school. We tired of being bullied and bothered for no reason.”
• “Me and 2 of my friends are coming to kill anyone we see so be ready.”
• “We are going to start at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.”

The second message included an image of six firearms, with the message: “Some more of what we gonna bring.”

Because of the threat, more than 400 students stayed home from school on Tuesday, WFLA reported.

It was not immediately clear if the girl who allegedly made the social media posts had planned to carry out the threat, WTVT reported. Detectives are still trying to determine her motive and whether anyone else was involved, the television station reported.
