ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A Florida man is accused of hitting another man in the face with a vacuum cleaner, authorities said.
Darrell Lamarr Jones, 50, of St. Petersburg, was arrested Thursday and charged with felony battery, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.
According to an arrest affidavit, the victim had walked into his St. Petersburg apartment when Jones allegedly hit him in the face with the vacuum cleaner, WFLA-TV reported.
The victim defended himself and hit Jones in self-defense, but the St. Petersburg Police Department said that Jones climbed on top of the victim until he was able to leave the scene, the television station reported.
Police said the victim suffered minor injuries that included a swollen right eye, a cut on his forehead and a cut under his left eye, WFLA reported. The man’s face was also bruised.
Jones was booked into the Pinellas County Jail at 12:54 a.m. EDT on Friday, online records show. He was released on his own recognizance at 7:59 p.m. on Friday, according to online records.
According to online court records, Jones was outfitted with a camera monitor by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office before he was released.
