Florida man’s paint job on $528K home has neighbors seeing red

NAPLES, Fla. — A paint job on a southwest Florida home is either an artistic statement or a job inspired by a child throwing colors against the wall.

Either way, the job has residents in a Naples subdivision seeing red. Yellow, too. And even splashes of green, purple and blue.

This home makeover was extreme. A van in the driveway was spray-painted with the phrase, “Who is Omar?”

Neighbors said the paint job became worse during the course of a week -- not even the mailbox escaped the painters’ attention. Now, the management company for Il Regalo said the costs to repaint the home could be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, WBBH reported.

“I can’t believe it. I absolutely can’t believe someone would do something like this,” Alan Klawans, who was checking on his friend’s house, told the television station.

According to Collier County property appraiser records, the home is owned by 40-year-old Jeffrey Christopher Leibman. The home was built in 2006 and has 2,517 square feet of living space. According to the property appraiser, the home had a 2019 market value of $528, 623.

Liebman could not be reached for comment. According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, he was arrested Nov. 27 and faces three drug charges, including smuggling contraband into a detention facility. He was released on bond Dec. 12.
