Halsey pregnant with first child

Halsey fans received a huge surprise Wednesday when the “Without Me” singer announced she is expecting her first child, posting maternity photos on Instagram and a simple message on Twitter.

The 26-year-old New Jersey native posed in a rainbow crochet bikini top and jeans for the session, shot by 21-year-old photographer Sam Dameshek, NJ.com reported.

Born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, the pop singer tagged screenwriter boyfriend Alev Aydin in the photos, the outlet reported, noting the repeated imagery in the posts seemingly refer to a “rainbow baby,” a term for a baby that arrives after a previous miscarriage, stillbirth or death of an infant.

According to USA Today, the Grammy-nominated artist suffered a miscarriage while on tour about five years ago and later revealed on an episode of “The Doctors” that she froze some of her eggs following the loss.

“Reproductive illness is so frustrating because it can really make you feel less of a woman,” she said during the episode. “There’s a lot of times when you’re sitting at home and you just feel so terrible about yourself. You’re sick. You don’t feel sexy. You don’t feel proud. You don’t feel like there’s much hope.”

Halsey’s most recent studio album, “Manic,” dropped last year, but she canceled her tour, which had already been postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, on Jan. 22, USA Today reported.
