The incident took place at a retail outlet in Roswell, located north of Atlanta in the Market Center at Holcomb Woods, WSB-TV reported.

According to the Roswell Police Department, the 54-year-old woman was standing on a forklift in the store’s receiving area at about 8:15 p.m. EDT, the television station reported.

According to the incident report, the woman was impaled by the crowbar, which was protruding from a cardboard compactor. Officers arriving at the scene discovered the woman pinned with the crowbar in her ribcage, WSB reported. The crowbar pierced her body, forcing her to be stuck to the compactor located behind her, according to the television station.

The police report did not disclose how the accident happened.

Roswell firefighters freed the mother of two by cutting the crowbar enough to extricate her from the compactor. She was taken to an area hospital, with a piece of the crowbar still in her body, and underwent surgery late Tuesday night, according to WSB.

The woman is expected to recover and was in stable condition, the television station reported.
