A former “American Idol” contestant is quarantining with her newborn son after the baby tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Casey Goode, also known as Quigley, appeared briefly in 2009′s season 8 of the popular competition series. Since then, she’s gained a following on social media, where she detailed her family’s recent encounter with COVID-19.
Goode announced the birth of her son, Maximilian Vaughn Goode, on Sept. 22. She said he was immediately taken to the neonatal intensive care unit, where he spent eight days receiving care.
Shortly after being discharged, Goode said she noticed her baby had a fever.
“Max tested positive for COVID-19 early Saturday," she wrote Sunday on Instagram. “We took him into the ER after he was running a fever in the middle of the night. We had confirmation that he was exposed from direct contact with a medical professional who had cared for him earlier in the week.”
No further details were provided about how many other babies or patients the medical professional had come in contact with.
Goode said she hasn’t experienced symptoms yet, but she is quarantining in the PICU with her little one as a precaution.
“They are treating me as if I have been exposed and are likely positive as well, although I am showing no symptoms yet,” she said. “Not sure what happens next from here.”
