LOS ANGELES — Surveillance video captured the moment when a Bel Air homeowner came face-to-face with a naked intruder, and then things got exceptionally weird.
Mat Sabz was reportedly talking with his wife on the phone when he rounded a corner at the top of the stairs and saw the unclothed stranger standing at the bottom.
“Hey! Who are you? What are you doing here? It’s my house. What are you doing here? I’m gonna call the police right now,” Sabz can be heard shouting on the Ring video, yelling at the intruder from the top of the stairs.
“He didn’t even move. He looked at me and said, ‘This is my house,’ and he started coming up the stairs,” Sabz told WTHR.
According to KTLA, the Ring camera also captured footage of the man walking around the couple’s backyard naked, entering the home, showering and helping himself to a pair of shorts.
Sabz eventually escaped the confrontation by jumping from a second-story balcony and called police, the TV station reported.
The burglar has since been identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as Paul Kiyan, 34, who was arrested just before 2 p.m. Thursday, WTHR reported.
Sabz’s wife, Monica, told the TV station that she was watching the encounter unfold through the Ring camera.
“I was so frightened and scared that this guy is going to be doing something to my husband,” she told WTHR, noting that Kiyan roamed the family’s home for 45 minutes before private security and police took him into custody.
According to Sabz, the couple’s two young children, who were not home at the time of the incident, later discovered their two pet parakeets had been killed.
“[Kiyan] went and opened the cage like a serial killer look, smile. [He] opened the cage and [was] squeezing them, dropping them and stomping on both of them as they are screaming for their lives, these birds,” Sabz told WTHR.
According to the Sabzes, Kiyan gained entry to the home by taking a garage door opener from an unlocked car, the outlet reported.
