Disney+ announced that Ewan McGregor will return to action on May 25 on the streaming service, Variety reported. The date is also the 45th anniversary of the release of the original “Star Wars” movie, according to the entertainment site.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced the date of the series during the company’s earnings call on Wednesday.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is set 10 years after the events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith,” according to Variety. In that episode, the Jedi Master faced his greatest defeat -- the downfall and corruption of his best friend and apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who became the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

McGregor returns as Obi-Wan Kenobi, while Hayden Christensen will play Skywalker, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series also stars Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie, according to the website.
