The “Baby Baby” singer, 61, struck a pothole on Wednesday while riding near Harpeth Hills Golf Course in Nashville, Tennessee, according to The Tennessean. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to her representatives.

Grant, a Christian gospel singer-songwriter who has been nominated for 16 Grammys, returned home Friday, according to the newspaper. According to Billboard, Grant canceled her Tennessee shows scheduled in August for Knoxville, Chattanooga and Johnson City, and an additional show in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Tickets purchased for the August concerts will be honored for the new dates, People reported.

In an Instagram post, representatives for Grant wrote that “there are no other changes to her touring schedule at this time.”

“Earlier this week Amy Grant was in an accident after hitting a pothole while riding her bicycle with a friend (note: she was wearing a helmet),” the post reads. “Following a brief hospitalization where she was treated for her injuries, doctors have ordered additional recovery time at home for Amy, where she is now resting comfortably.”

Grant has two No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: “Baby Baby” topped the charts for two weeks in April 1991, and “The Next Time I Fall,” a duet with former Chicago singer Peter Cetera, was No. 1 in December 1986.

The accident comes two years after Grant underwent open-heart surgery to correct a rare condition that she had since birth but was discovered during a routine checkup in 2020, People reported.

Grant was diagnosed with PAPVR (partial anomalous pulmonary venous return) and confirmed she had successful surgery in June 2020, according to the magazine.

On Thursday, a note posted to Grant’s Twitter account thanked fans for “offering prayers and well-wishes” during her recovery.

“Your kind thoughts and heartfelt prayers are felt and received,” the post said.
