A surfer in Hawaii is in serious condition after being bitten on the leg by what is believed to be a tiger shark, according to authorities.
The 58-year-old man was bitten while surfing at Kewalo Basin, an area north of Waikiki on the island of Oahu, shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday, The Guardian reported.
According to authorities, surfers applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg before emergency medical services reached him.
The surfer was not identified, EMS spokesperson Shayne Enright told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
