FlightAware, a website that tracks flights, noted that several Florida airports, including in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando as well as Baltimore, New York and other airports around the country experienced significant disruptions in service.

JetBlue, Southwest, Alaska Airlines, Frontier, Spirit and American Airlines were most affected, The Associated Press reported, with JetBlue and Spirit canceling one-third of Sunday’s scheduled flights.

Southwest canceled 520 Saturday flights, or 14% of its operation; and 398 Sunday flights, citing weather and intermittent technology issues.

By Sunday afternoon, nearly 9,000 flights scheduled on Saturday and Sunday had been delayed.

Operations appeared to be returning to normal by Sunday evening.
