ALLEN, Texas — A crash sent an 18-wheeler flying off an overpass, killing the driver.
A witness shared video from a dashboard camera with WFAA, which shows the truck flying through the air before hitting the ground where it burst into flames.
Police told KXAS that the tractor-trailer was driving northbound on U.S. Highway 75 in Allen when it collided with another vehicle, causing the truck to go over the side of the overpass.
Police confirmed the driver of the truck was killed, but said their identity would not be released until after the family has been notified, KXAS reported. The driver of the other vehicle involved was not hurt.
After the crash, WFAA reported that packages and letters, some with USPS markings on them, had spilled onto the road and a USPS employee was at the scene taking pictures and making calls. The agency did not confirm whether the driver was an employee, or whether the truck belonged to them.
In a post on Twitter, the City of Allen warned drivers to expect delays in the area into Wednesday night.
From @Allen_Police: Major Crash on US 75 at Stacy Road. Expect delays in all directions for the remainder of the evening and into tonight. Seek alternate routes. The east service road from Cabela’s Drive to Stacy Rd will be shut down.
