DEER CREEK, Okla. — Oklahoma deputies responding to reports of a “vicious dog” in a subdivision were relieved to discover that the canine was a small -- but noisy -- animal.
According to a Facebook post by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded over the weekend to complaints that a dog was “terrorizing” neighbors in Deer Creek, KOCO-TV reported.
What they found was a lot less intimidating.
“Please let this be the vicious dog. What up, Toto?” one deputy could be heard saying on body camera video.
“Brave deputies risked their lives to bring this call to a successful conclusion,” the sheriff’s office joked on Facebook. “Warning: The body camera video we have included is reminiscent of some of the more terrifying scenes in the movie ‘Cujo,’ and could be disturbing to some viewers.”:
The body cam video showed the officer opening a gate, permitting the dog to run toward a home’s backyard, KOCO reported.
“Come on, little bit,” the deputy can be heard as he coaxes the animal back into its enclosure.
The officer then closed the gate and scooped up some rocks to place under it, preventing the dog from making another escape.
“I hope they get extra hazardous duty pay for this,” one Facebook poster responded.
