Investigators determined that a motorist was traveling eastbound on University Boulevard in the inside lane when they struck the pedestrian, east of Goldenrod Road.

They said the man was not in a marked crosswalk and that he likely entered into the path of the oncoming car.

Troopers believe that the front left side of the vehicle hit the man, who died at the crash site.

At last report, investigators were still working to identify the pedestrian.

Troopers said they are looking for help from the public to find the driver and the car involved in the incident.

A car part located at the crash site could be linked to the hit-and-run vehicle, according to investigators.
