High School Football

FHSAA releases tentative reclassification for football

The Florida High School Athletic Association has been busy realigning the state's high school football classes. The tentative classifications and districts were released today pending appeals by the schools.

Some of the bigger changes affecting central Florida schools include Osceola and Gateway moving up to 8A. DeLand, Spruce Creek, and Orange City University move into a district with two schools from Jacksonville. Hagerty Drops to 7A.

Lake Nona and East River, two schools that opened on the same year and a play a rivalry game for a surfboard, are in the same district for the first time.

One of the biggest changes hits one of the oldest schools in Orlando. Edgewater has been placed in a district with Harmony, Lake Gibson in Lakeland, Eagle Lake's Lake Region HS, Sebring and Auburndale.
