Sewer line work near The Loop shopping plaza might cause more traffic congestion

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Construction crews began work Thursday to replace a sewer line near The Loop shopping plaza on the Osceola Parkway.

Drivers told Channel 9 they're already concerned about the traffic in the area, and now they will have to deal with more congestion until the work is complete on Nov. 18.

"Basically, it's a waste of time. It's a hassle. Any time I do drive this way, I'm always stuck in the traffic. It's either road work, accidents or nobody knows where they are going," said driver Amber Meyers.

The Toho Water Authority will shut down the east lane on the Osceola Parkway near John Young Parkway Thursday.

The closure also includes the south ramp for John Young Parkway.

"Well traffic is always a concern, but if they have to repair something, it's got to be repaired. We need good infrastructure and it takes time and money and maybe a little inconvenience. If you have to get from A to B in a hurry, you got to be put up with that," said driver Abigail Flint.

Officials said crews will be working at all hours of the day.

To avoid the closure, drivers can take West Osceola Parkway to Greenwald Way.
