Isolated showers inland, coast overnight; slight increase in rain chance to end workweek

ORLANDO, Fla. — Storms have developed but this first batch missed the Orlando Metro area.

During the afternoon the temperatures stayed between 86 and 90 degrees.

Showers and storms will gradually cease after 9 p.m. with only a few isolated rain showers making it to the coastal areas. Lows around the mid to upper 70s.

Expect a slight increase in rain activity to end the workweek and into the weekend as we have an area is storms that will be crossing over South Florida on Friday and Saturday. Due to the moisture lingering around, highs will be between 88 and 90 degrees Friday and Saturday. Lows will remain warm in the mid to upper 70s.

This is the same area that has a medium chance of becoming a named tropical system early next week, once it moves over the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

In the tropics, Paulette and Rene are still on track to stay out to sea, but more tropical waves are expected to follow them. Channel 9 meteorologists are monitoring the storms but none of them pose a threat to Central Florida at this time.
