Scattered storms developing across Central Florida this afternoon in the wake of Hurricane Laura

ORLANDO, Fla. — Hot and humid conditions are holding strong in Central Florida Thursday.

Scattered storms continue to develop in the wake of Laura as our moisture levels rise again. Storms will be a little more active in the afternoon, with a 40% chance.

Temperatures will be in the upper 90s.

We’ll see scattered lightning storms through sunset, and an overall higher rain coverage through the weekend. Rain chances will increase throughout the rest of the week, with a 50% to 60% chance through the weekend.

In the tropics, Hurricane Laura made landfall at about 2 a.m. in Cameron, Louisiana as a Category 4 storm.

The storm is expected to rapidly weaken throughout the day.
