SANFORD, Fla. — Police in Sanford arrested a 13-year-old boy accused in an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery.
Both crimes happened at gas stations earlier this week on West Airport Boulevard near State Road 417.
On Tuesday, police said Trayvon Whittaker walked into the Citgo Foodmart at about 8:30 p.m., grabbed a pack of Slim Jims and then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the clerk.
“He said, ‘I’m going to shoot you,’ and I said, ‘Don’t shoot me, just take the money, as much as you need. Don’t kill me,’” said the store’s owner, Kagi Ali.
Ali handed over the money and Whittaker left the store, police said.
Investigators suspect the teenage also tried unsuccessfully to rob a nearby Shell gas station 24 hours earlier.
Police did not specify what happened during the attempted robbery.
