ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — Rockledge police responded to a 911 call Thursday night about an armed robbery, where two people were ambushed in front of their home.
The victims were forced into their home on Brindle Lane at gunpoint and then robbed of guns and money. The teenage robbers then fled in a silver Kia.
"They described two gunman, who forced them into their house (and) forced them on the ground. As they had them on the ground, they went around and stole property, money and things of that nature," Lt. Donna Seyferth, of the Rockledge Police Department, said.
An officer spotted the vehicle and was led on a pursuit after attempting to stop it. The chase ultimately ended when the suspects crashed into the Brevard County Zoo.
The suspects then fled on foot but were captured by police officers and Brevard County sheriff's deputies.
Authorities said both Maurice Thompson, 19, and Stuart Hickson, 18, have criminal histories. One is a convicted felon, the other is on probation.
The victims were not harmed, and there was no evidence that they knew the suspects, police said.
Both suspects were transported to the Brevard County Detention Center, where they face charges of theft, false imprisonment and robbery home invasion.
Police said they are still trying to recover one of the stolen weapons.
