DELAND, Fla. — A 7-year-old boy had to be airlifted to the hospital after crashing a go-kart on Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.
According to an FHP report, the child was riding the go-kart in a private parking lot off of State Road 44 and Grand Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. when he somehow lost control and overturned.
The boy was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers have not released the child’s name.
Troopers said the crash happened on property owned by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in DeLand and the victim is a child of a deputy.
