Crist vs DeSantis: Match-up for Florida’s governor race set for November

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida has decided Democrat Charlie Crist will face Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in November for the race to be Florida’s governor.

The primaries have ended, and now the candidates are shifting their focus to the general election on Nov. 8.

Crist beat out agriculture commissioner Nikki Fried on Tuesday night with nearly 60% of the vote.

It’s a quick turnaround with less than three months until the November midterm elections.

“The people of Florida sent a message, they want a governor who cares about them,” Crist said.

Crist has a long political history in the Sunshine State. He was first elected governor as a Republican in 2006.

DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio will be out on the campaign trail Wednesday.

They have an event planned in Geneva, put on by the Republican Party of Florida.
