Deputies: Brevard County corrections officer fired after having sex with inmate

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Brevard County corrections officer was arrested and fired on accusations he had sex with a female inmate.

Deputies initiated an investigation into Deputy Barre Taylor and the inmate on Tuesday after receiving information that Taylor and the inmate had sex.

Taylor had been working at the jail as a corrections officer for five years.

Deputies said Taylor had sex with the inmate at least two times in the past several weeks.

Taylor was relieved of his duties and placed on leave without pay.

He was arrested Wednesday on charges of sexual misconduct and was booked into the Brevard County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Taylor posted bond late Wednesday.
