BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Brevard County teacher is no longer allowed in the classroom after she was accused of inappropriately touching several underage girls.
According to a police report, it happened multiple times while Kellie McCalmont was coaching the dance team at Jefferson Middle School in Merritt Island, where she used to work.
Documents said McCalmont, who worked as both a science teacher and a dance coach at the school, admitted to deputies that she touched the girls, but told school administrators it was just a game.
According to documents, a student complained that McCalmont ran her hand between the girl’s buttocks while shouting “credit card.”
A Brevard County Sheriff’s Office report said the woman made the students feel uncomfortable and embarrassed them in front of their teammates. Deputies said that the inappropriate behavior happened in front of other students.
When school administrators confronted McCalmont about the allegations, the report said that she admitted to touching the underage girls but told administrators that it was a game that she had learned from her ex-husband and that she would do it to the girls in a joking manner. %

Court records said deputies initially slapped McCalmont with 25 criminal charges when she was arrested in September 2015, but a judge ended up sentencing her to probation on four battery charges.
The state’s Department of Education said McCalmont retired from Brevard Public Schools so she wouldn't get fired.
No one answered the door when Channel 9 visited McCalmont's home Friday.
