Deputies search for man seen running from car on fire with body inside in Lake County An investigation is underway in Lake County after deputies found a man’s body in the trunk of a burning car.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Lake County detectives have identified the man whose body was found in the trunk of a burning car Saturday.

Deputies responded to reports of a car on fire on Honeycut Road near Groveland just after 9 a.m.

Investigators say shortly after arriving on the scene they found the body of 20-year-old Jermonick Luther inside a burned-out SUV.

Deputies still have not said how Luther died, only that his death is being ruled a homicide.

At the time of the fire, a witness who called 911 said that they saw a man running away from the scene.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established for Luther’s family.



Detectives ask that anyone with information call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 352-343-2101.
