Florida reports 219 new coronavirus-related deaths, including 48 in Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida reported an additional 219 coronavirus-related deaths on Tuesday, including more than 20 in one Central Florida county alone.

Polk County saw a spike in deaths, with 27 reported since Monday. The other deaths reported locally included six in Seminole County; three each in Lake, Marion and Brevard counties; two each in Osceola and Volusia counties, and one each in Orange and Sumter counties.

On Tuesday, Florida also reported an increase of 3,838 new cases, an increase from the day before when the state reported its lowest number of new cases since mid-June.

As of Tuesday, the state had reported a total of 579,932 cases of the virus and 9,893 deaths. Of those deaths, 9,758 were Florida residents.
