How safe is your drinking water? A new database will tell you

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

A new online tool lets you see how clean your water is before you drink it.

The Environmental Working Group created the tap water database.

A user can type in their zip code, and the site instantly provides a list of contaminants detected in water tests.

The database also shows what levels of chemicals are safe to drink.

According to the website, the database relies on what scientists have determined are the best levels of each chemical in order to fully protect public health.
