Orlando Health celebrates milestone in construction of new patient tower

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Orlando Health South Lake Hospital and Clermont City officials celebrated a major milestone in the construction of its new, 95-bed patient tower.

On Thursday, the final beam of the new hospital expansion was moved into place in Lake County.

Along with the placement of the final beam, physicians, nurses and team members filled a time capsule with photos and memories of Orlando Heath South Lake and letters to the next generation of health care workers.

Health South Lake Hospital. “Orlando Health South Lake Hospital has met the healthcare needs of the Lake County community since it was founded 75 years ago. The addition of our new patient tower is a continuation of our legacy and mission that first began in 1947 and will allow us to continue providing high-quality health care for decades to come as Lake County continues to grow.”

The expansion will include new labor and delivery beds, expanded women’s services, and intensive care for Lake County patients.

Orlando Health said the completed patient tower will create more than 150 full-time hospital positions and more than 500 construction jobs.

Construction is set to be completed in early 2024.
