Shootout prompts lockdown at Lake County school

A shooting at an apartment complex prompted a precautionary lockdown at Tavares High School on Thursday morning, the Tavares Police Department said.

Officials said two people shot at one another at the complex on Ianthe Street.

Investigators described the incident as domestic in nature.

No one was injured.

Police said the shooters fled the scene.

Classes resumed after the incident.

Officials said there was no immediate threat to students or staff at the school.
