March Madness expected to be a slam dunk for local businesses

ORLANDO, Fla. — March Madness is doing more than bringing action to the basketball court. It’s also leading to a boon for the local economy.

Visit Orlando said the fans lining the streets are likely to spend big throughout the weekend.

Officials estimate that there will be millions and millions of dollars being spent this weekend at local shops, restaurants, hotels and transportation.

The Orlando Sports Commission said it hopes the economic impact of the games could be up to $14 million.
