Medical supplies being collected for Ukraine effort; how you can help

ORLANDO, Fla. — A medical supply drive is underway in Central Florida to support those affected by the war in Ukraine.

The effort is being organized by Darkhorse Benefits, a nonprofit that conducts medical training and operations near the frontlines, and the Boy Scouts of America.

Donations can be dropped off at the following local Ashley locations, beginning Monday and lasting until May 23:

• Altamonte Springs

• Sanford

• Daytona Beach

• Melbourne

Darkhorse Benefits on March 9 deployed a team of special operations combat medics, including Navy SEALs, Green Berets and Pararescuemen.

The donated supplies will be shipped to a newly formed 400-man unit that will deploy straight to the frontlines.

The following supplies are needed:

• Bag, Zip Lock- 8″ X 10″

• Bag, Zip Lock- 12″ x 15″

• Hemostatic Bandage (Quick Clot, CEL Rapid clot etc.)

• Bandage, Elastic Wrap - 4″ x 5yd

• Glove Nitrile, Large (or medical type glove, large)

• Gauze, wound packing- 3″ x 5yd

• Tourniquet

• 10 Gauge Needle Catheter x 3.25″

• Trauma Shears- 7 1/4″

• Blanket, Emergency Survival - 52″ x 84″ – ODG

• Duct tape, 2″ x 100′

• Super glue

• Syringe, 0.9% NACL Flush (10ml)

• IV Needle, Hypodermic - (18 GA) x 1.5″

• Normal Saline - 500cc

• Blood pressure cuffs (high quality for rugged use)

• Stethoscope (high quality for rugged use)

• Oximeter, Finger Pulse (Diagnostix 2100 or similar preferred)

• Vetbond, Tissue Adhesive- 3ml

• Dressing, Clear adhesive- 4″ x 4 ¾” (or larger/ similar size)

• Closure, Skin- Steri-Strip, Flex (0.25″x 3″)
