VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Blue Spring State Park has been flooded with marine life during the recent cold spell.

Park rangers shared a video of a large group of manatees gathered at the spring over the weekend.
Officials said counting estimates found more than 600 “sea cows” were spotted at Blue Spring.

When air temperatures drop, so do water temperatures.
However, the naturally flowing spring waters stay a bit warmer compared to other aquatic habitats.

Cold stress is a serious condition for manatees, so they move into the clear spring waters to escape the frigid temperatures.
