Navy veteran enjoys special reunion in Orlando thanks to help from ‘Miles for Military’

ORLANDO, Fla. — A special reunion took place at Orlando International Airport earlier this week.

The “Miles for Military” program reunited Petty Officer Third Class Lazaria Phipps with her best friend just before deployment.

Phipps served in the Navy for 5 years and earned her flight through volunteer work.

“So it was great to have that experience and be able to volunteer those hours in order for me to get a free flight,” Phipps said.

“Miles for Military” is a nonprofit that recognized Phipps’ service with the trip and aims to provide a thousand flights for service members this year.
