ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — An Escambia County man's attempt to blur lines landed him in jail last Sunday.
Steven Fillingim, 40, was accused of hitting a girl with a long, thin switch to the beat of the Robin Thicke song "Blurred Lines" and recording it on his cellphone.
He sent it to his girlfriend, who showed it to investigators from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.
Bruising on the back of the victim's thighs match up to the area where Fillingim could be seen striking her in the video, investigators said in a report.
Fillingim's girlfriend said she saw him strike the girl with a belt and order her to hold a weight. His girlfriend said she was told to "go to her room and mind her own business," according to the report.
Fillingim was arrested, charged with three counts of child abuse and is out on $15,000 bond.
His next court date is Oct. 4 at 8:30 a.m.
His girlfriend, meanwhile, said she broke up with him and doesn't want to see him anymore.
