ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Cypress Creek High School was placed on lockdown Thursday after a threat on social media, officials said.
The status later changed to modified lockdown, meaning that students are permitted only to go from class to class, unless there is an emergency.
"I've only been to two periods and I am signing out now because I don't feel safe in school," student Jonathan Monroig said.
Officials said a threat was made that there will be a fight at school possibly involving a shooting.
"I just heard that there were two young boys that were roughing it out. They were having beef with each other, and instead of just talking about it they wanted to take it to gun play," said student Shawn Gutierrez.
Many parents picked up their children after hearing about the threats.
"My daughter text me that everybody was texting her from school not to come to school today because there was going to be a shootout," said parent Maritza Roman.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating and has added extra officers at the school.
