ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County Fire Rescue battalion chief has been relieved of duty after being arrested on a prostitution-related charge. Steven Sherrill was arrested on Aug. 21 by the Altamonte Springs Police Department on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of procuring for prostitution.
Following the arrest, Sherrill was relieved of duty without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
In a statement, Orange County Fire Rescue said it takes matters involving employee conduct seriously and is committed to a thorough, impartial review of the circumstances.
Sherrill was hired by Orange County Fire Rescue in April 2002 and served as a battalion chief prior to his arrest.
