WINTER PARK, Fla. — Winter Park’s “happy house” is set to be commemorated with a historical marker next week.
Casa Feliz will get a dedicated historical marker next Wednesday as part of the Florida Division of Historical Resources Historical Marker Program. The dedication will take place at the home, located at 656 N. Park Ave., at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 7.

The program is designed to raise public awareness of Florida’s cultural history and to enhance the enjoyment of our historic sites by citizens and tourists.
Officials said Casa Feliz, which is the work of architect James Gamble Rogers II, will have one of more than 987 historical markers in the state.

In 2000, the house was sold and community members raised $1.2 million in private donations to save the house from demolition, have it moved, and ultimately restored.
The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
