ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida businesses are teaming up to call on the community to help gather items for people impacted by the earthquake in Haiti.
Businesses like Centric Realty are pleading to give if you can.
Abdias Alexandre, the CEO of Centric Realty Services LLC in Orlando, is one of three business owners lending their space Wednesday as a drop off location for donations collecting non-perishables and clothing items.
The group has partnered with a shipping company in Miami that will then send the items to Haiti.
Alexandre said the cause hits close to home for him.
“I was born and raised there so I can imagine myself being there, what it would mean to me to have people care enough in those tough situations,” Alexandre said.
Antonio Wynn, who works at Harvest Time International’s Global Relief Center, said their warehouse collects household and food items year-round to ship to countries in need.
Wynn said since the group partners with Food for the Poor in Haiti, they can be sure the items get to the island and directly to earthquake victims.
