The City Beautiful reveals its ‘Livable Orlando Age‐Friendly Action Plan’

ORLANDO, Fla. — The City Beautiful has received an Age-Friendly City designation through AARP and the World Health Organization.

By joining the AARP Network of Age‐Friendly States and Communities, Orlando has agreed to start the process to create Orlando’s first Livable Orlando Age‐Friendly Action Plan.

The Mayor’s Committee on Livability and Healthy Aging led the planning process.

The plan outlines 25 goals and 89 action items to improve mobility and safety, enhance employment and volunteer opportunities, reduce social isolation, and improve health and longevity for Orlando seniors..

According to a news release, the goal of the action plan is to “transform the way our community thinks about aging and make the City of Orlando a place to live better for longer, and for our City to be more accessible for everyone.”

The plan will be implemented over the next four years and will be led by the Mayor’s Committee on Livability and Healthy Aging.
