Enormous mask-making project underway in Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — As leaders craft plans to gradually get Central Florida’s hospitals back on schedule, shortages of personal protective equipment are still widespread.

That's what a local group said it hears every day from medical personnel across the region.

Now, a massive mask-making mission has exploded to provide thousands of those on the front lines.

Industry sources said availability of PPE hasn't seen the same progress.

Within weeks, the highly coordinated network grew to 1,000 volunteers. Most who've never seen each other, but simply follow daily direction on Facebook whether as a sewer, strap stringer, washer, or driver.
