The department is looking to fill a variety of positions, including sworn officers, emergency communication specialists, community service officers and more.

“We’ve gone through several years of some bad things. From the pandemic to the lack of trust in law enforcement,” said OPD recruiting officer Lawrence McCalley. “So, we need to build that back. And what a better way -- get some people from the community -- put a badge on them and have them go out and talk to those they grew up with -- their friends, their neighbors, their loved ones and show them it’s a good time to serve.”
