Opera Orlando moves toward online shows for upcoming season

ORLANDO, Fla. — Opera Orlando has announced it will focus on online performances as Florida begins to reopen.

The Opera on Park Summer Concert Series this season will be completely online and free this season. A virtual Fifth Anniversary Party for Opera Orlando will also be hosted online.

“It has been a challenging time, waiting out the current pandemic, but challenge yields opportunity,” Artistic Director Grant Preisser said. “With the success of our live streamed talk-show style series, The High Note, we will be transitioning our Opera on Park Summer Concert Series completely online and free for this season, as well as hosting a virtual Fifth Anniversary Party highlighting the exciting growth and achievement of Opera Orlando.”

Here’s a list of concerts:

-Nathan Granner, tenor, and Jamie Chamberlain, soprano: 2 p.m. on Aug. 23.

-Gregg Baker, bass-baritone and Robin Stamper, piano: 2 p.m. on Aug. 30.

-Carlos Enrique Santelli, tenor, and Ashley Dixon, mezzo-soprano with Clinton Smith, piano: 2 p.m. on Sept. 6.

-Executive director and Grammy Award winner Gabriel Priesser, baritone, with Robin Stamper, piano: 2 p.m. on Sept. 13.

Each concert will be broadcast weekly on Opera Orlando’s Facebook page for free and are hosted by executive director Gabriel Preisser. The concerts are free, but a suggested donation of $30 is encouraged.

On Sept. 20, the opera will stream its Fifth Anniversary Party featuring several renowned performers. The show will be streamed on Opera Orlando’s YouTube channel through a private link that will be provided to those who give a minimum donation of $75.
