ORLANDO, Fla. — The Salvation Army is expanding its shelters to help more people in need during the pandemic.
Leaders said the coronavirus has left many with no place to go, and the need doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
A tent is providing emergency shelter during the pandemic, and leaders have plans for an additional structure.

Capt. Ken Chapman said both tents combined can hold 75 beds.
The Salvation Army said the expansion won’t be cheap and its working on funding.
“It’s going to well over half a million dollars,” Chapman said. “We’re working on funding sources now. We’re very close to finalizing that.”

The Salvation Army said it will need the following items to help with its expansion:
- White towels
- White flat sheets (twin size)
- Socks
- Blankets
- Men clothing (all sizes)
- Personal hygiene products (travel Size)

Donations can be brought to 416 West Colonial Dr., which is the administration building.
