ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine recently brought on two new doctors to look into health disparities among minority groups during the pandemic.
Dr. Elena Cyrus and Dr. Karina Villalba have both done extensive research and community outreach in battling health disparities.
The Population Health Sciences Department felt their team needed to look into those disparities further, and really understand why this is, and what it is that puts certain people at a higher risk, and how they fix it.
The Hispanic and Black communities have both been hit hard by COVID-19.
