Final autopsy reports determine official cause of death for Todt family members found dead in Celebration home

CELEBRATION, Fla. — The medical examiner’s autopsy report released Tuesday declares the official cause of death for members of the Todt family found dead in their Celebration home in January.

The father, Anthony Todt, is charged with first-degree murder accused of killing his wife, Megan, and three children Tyler, Alek, and Zoe. He is facing the death penalty if convicted.

The medical examiner’s report ruled the cause of death for the mother and her three children as “homicidal violence of unspecified means in association with diphenhydramine toxicity," which means Benadryl contributed to their deaths.

The report shows that that Megan Todt was stabbed twice in the upper abdomen before her death, and 13-year-old Alek Todt and 11-year-old Tyler Todt were both stabbed once in the upper abdomen. According to earlier reports, there was no evidence of injury to Zoe Todt.

Channel 9 reporter Lauren Seabrook asked medical examiner Dr. Joshua Stephany if the “violence of unspecified means” could have been suffocation, but he said he would not comment on this case right now.

Anthony Todt was supposed to have a pre-trial hearing later this month, but will will be delayed due to the COVID-19 stay-at-home order.
