OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Less than 72 hours after 9 Investigates exposed a mold-covered ceiling and spoiled food at a Poinciana grocery store, the state stepped in and gave the business a failing grade.
Inspectors dropped by Bravo Supermarket in Poinciana to investigate the problems.
The store owner said he’s fixed some of the issues, including the moldy tiled.
But that wasn’t enough to stop inspectors from giving the store a failing grade.
9 Investigates first reported the issue Monday, and found rotten plantains and spoiled peppers in the produce section.
The store manager said he would get new tiled and ditch the moldy food within a week.
When Channel 9 reporter Mike Manzoni went to the store after the latest inspection, there were some moldy tiled that had been replaced, but some were still dirty.
When state inspectors made their surprise visit Thursday, they found 30 violations and gave the supermarket a failing grade.
The report mentioned inspectors found employees not cleaning their hands, potentially hazardous food, poisonous or toxic materials not stored to prevent contamination and a broken plumbing system.
The store manager said not all the violations were “critical.”
In 2015, an inspection found the 347 violations in the store.
