Divers were searching the intercoastal waterway in the area.

Volunteer searcher Jow Jowers found Cole more than 18 hours after he was last seen.

“He just looked hungry and wanted his mommy. I gave him a big hug and said, ‘Your momma is going to be right here,’” Jowers said.

Police had searched throughout the night and into the day, then, just after noon, the search ended when the young boy was found safe.

“We were not going to give up. All day, it doesn’t matter how long it took, we were going to help find him,” said volunteer Kimmy Cruz.

Investigators said there was no foul play, and Cole wasn’t harmed.

“He knew he was late getting home, and anyone who has kids knows that, (they think), ‘Oh, I might be in trouble, so I’ll delay getting home,’” said Cocoa Beach Police Chief Bud Ayres.
