Police: Teenage boy arrested in fatal shooting outside I-Drive nightclub

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting last month outside a nightclub in the heart of the city’s tourism district, the Orlando Police Department said.

Daeshawn Simmons was charged with first-degree murder in the March 21 shooting of Terron McCarty, 17, outside LUX Ultra Lounge at International Drive and South Kirkman Road, police spokeswoman Michelle Guido said Friday.

Detectives said Simmons and McCarty got into an argument inside the club, which spilled out into the parking lot and ended in gunfire.

Another teen was arrested for his involvement in the shooting, police announced late Friday.

Levar Ferguson, 18, was charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder. His bail has been set at $40,000.

Police said almost 20 spent shell casings and bullets were found in the parking lot.

Last month's shooting was the third at the club in two years.

A man was shot in the shoulder at the venue in November. He told investigators that he wasn't sure who shot him and that there wasn't any fight that led up to it. A friend drove him to the hospital.

In 2015, investigators said an off-duty police officer shot a man who fired a gun outside the club.

The shooting remains under investigation.
