Downtown businesses welcome football fans for Cheez-It Bowl

ORLANDO, Fla. — Bars and other businesses in and around downtown Orlando are preparing for Thursday’s Cheez-It Bowl.

The matchup between FSU Seminoles and Oklahoma Sooners gets underway Thursday evening at Camping World Stadium.

Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.

Festivities for the game began earlier this week and both out-of-towners and locals have been visiting popular areas such as Church Street.

Bar owners and managers in the downtown corridor said they plan to have extra staff ready to accommodate the crowds.

Jay Peeper, event director of Church Street, said he doesn’t anticipate any problems will occur.

City of Orlando officials said that safety and security will be their focus as visiting college football fans and Orlando residents fill the streets.

Orlando Police Department said it’s well-staffed for the next couple of days and throughout the weekend.
